On Friday 20th April 2018, two people died in the showbiz world. EDM Producer and DJ/Musician Avicii died in his hotel in Muscat, Oman. DJ Avicii had stopped touring in 2016 due to health concerns from his doctors. He had little time left to live. Same day, Tanzania Socialite Agnes Masogange died after being admitted in Ngoma Hospital, Tanzania.
She had been admitted for foor days but succumbed to pneumonia and low blood pressure.
Condolence messages poured in fast for the 28-year-old socialite. Confirming her death, Dr Rama Ngoma said that Masogange died from pneumonia and low blood pressure after being admitted at the medical facility for four days.
Unknown to many, Agnes Masongange was rumoured to be abusing hard drugs, which might have caused her body to stop functioning.
On July 5 2013, Masogange was arrested in South Africa alongside Mellisa Edward while trying to smuggle 180 Kgs of Ephedrine into SA. Ephedrine is an ingredient in manufacturing the drug Methampetamine (Meth).
After spending two months in prison she was fined about Sh1.2 million for her offense and she secured her freedom by paying the fine.
She was also among the celebrities summoned by Dar es Salaam Regional Commander Paul Makonda after being suspected of being in a drug cartel. Others included TID, Romy Jones, Wema Sepetu and Petitman.
On April 3rd 2017, the socialite was sentenced to 3 years in jail or a fine of Sh67,000/= after she was found guilty of drugs and substance abuse. She also secured her release and paid the fine.
