Veteran Politician and second liberation hero Kenneth Matiba is dead.
Kenneth Matiba died in Karen Hospital, Nairobi after being hospitalised for more than 55 days.
Matiba has for many years suffered from a stroke that he developed while in detention during the struggle for multi-party democracy in the early 90s.
In the year 2017, the High Court ruled that Matiba be paid Sh945 million for illegal detention.
The Government had earlier been ordered to pay Matiba Sh504 million.
Matiba had been arrested with others, including Charles Rubia, and detained for calling for the repeal of section 2A of the constitution in order to allow re-entry of multiparty politics in Kenya.
Kenya had for quite sometime been a one party state under the rule of iron fist President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.
While in detention, Matiba suffered a stroke but remained in custody without medical care.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has visited with the liberation hero several times and at least twice while he’s been admitted to hospital.
