Almost all the biggest talents when it comes to TV news presenting and reporting, all came from mostly KTN or NTV. Swaleh Mdoe, Lilian Muli, Lulu Hassan, Janet Mbugua, Jeff Koinange etc all came from KTN.
This time round, the media house has suffered again with Joe Ageyo and Yvonne Okwara being the first to join Royal Media Services Citizen TV. Its also rumoured that Rashid Abdalla, Nimrod Taabu and a host of other presenters have found a home at RMS.
But we kept asking, where will all those people fit? It now appears that Citizen TV will be opening a 24 hour news channel to rival the now successful KTN News. SK Macharia has seen that it is possible to have a 24 hour news channel in Kenya, he only needs to motivate the best in the country. And who better to add to the Swahili desk, KTN’s Marshirima Kapombe.
The Swahili news anchor, an alumnus of Daystar University started her career at Daystar’s Shine FM before joining KBC. She also worked at Q FM and NTV. She has been a Kiswahili news anchor and human interest features reporter at KTN since February 2013.
KTN has lost a talent, as Kiswahili anchors are hard to get easily in Nairobi.
Now, she is headed to Citizen where she will boost the Swahili desk with her brand of reporting.
She will come in very handy now that Lulu Hassan will be heading to maternity leave and Kanze Dena has already taken a State House job.
Maybe this is also good news to her since she will not be seeing eye-to-eye with her baby daddy Kazungu Matano aka Captain Otoyo who recently joined Alex Mwakideu on Radio Maisha.
We wish her nothing but the best.
